Bayelsa State Sanitation Authority sold off unpaid contractor's equipments parked at Project site.
It was pandemonium on 08/02/2017 morning at Okaka Phase two housing estates Yenagoa as men from Bayelsa State government Sanitation Authority accompanied with police men stormed the area to impound equipments belonging to a contractor. From the eye witness account, the representatives of the contractor were surprised to see that the equipments were not taken to the  office of the sanitation authority, instead the heavy-duty equipments (Mack lowboy truck & Heavy duty compacting Roller) were being taken out of Yenagoa.

Alarmed, the equipment owners quickly alerted Ekeki Police station. The Ekeki police DPO alerted their team at the Yenagoa tow gate (A border line between Bayelsa & Rivers) instructing them to stop any lowboy or tow van carting away any heavy equipment.

A team was swiftly sent from Ekeki Police station with an instruction to return the equipment to the station. It was later found out that these equipments belonging to a contractor being owed by the Bayelsa State government have been sold to buyers from Port Harcourt.

As at the time of writing this report, the police team have returned one of the equipment to their station and the mechanic and driver of the towing van are currently being interrogated by the police.  All the police officers that came for the impoundment and illegal sale of the equipment, and the buyers are at large.

The eye witness said their faith in the police authority has been restored due to the way the Ekeki  police command swiftly responded to the contractor’s representatives complaint.
